You said, we did

You said, we did

Through the UCEM Student Experience Surveys (SES), National Student Surveys (NSS), module evaluation forms on the VLE and programme representatives, we are able to hear from you and we really value your feedback Here are the actions we’ve taken in response to what you’ve told us so far.

You told us that our assessment criteria needed to be clearer

  • We have included a section in each assignment brief explaining a threshold for good and excellent submissions to help you better understand the assignment criteria
  • Our Academic Programme Support Tutors now view all assignment briefs to review the instructions and wording and ensure they are clear

You told us that marking needed to be fairer and that feedback was helpful

  • We have improved marking guides and the guidance that is provided in the marking webinars we hold for the marking team
  • We are providing greater guidance to our markers on the quality of their feedback and the helpfulness of comments
  • All markers provide an early sample of their marking so we can manage consistency of marking and quality of the feedback you receive

You told us that you wanted more opportunities for Academic Support

  • We have included a Study Support Forum for each module for you to post queries to the module leader and others in the Forum
  • In addition to webinars, we will be providing opportunities for tutor drop-in sessions on modules. Drop-in sessions are Q & A sessions enabling us to answer your queries to better support you in your studies
  • We have developed a clearer communication strategy, so you know the best person to answer your query and so that if you contact Student Central, they can more quickly direct you to the appropriate support
