Future ways of working

UCEM is a flexible employer and considers flexibility a valuable employee benefit, especially in this post-pandemic world of work. The flexibility we offer includes the place of work which is designated for each job role; roles have been designated as either Horizons based*, Split or Remote and this will be made clear within job specifications. Team Overview

The Student Engagement Team are the primary source of student support and are a student’s first point of contact, acting as a triage point for a range of support services available across the institution. We provide clear, helpful, and tailored information, advice, and guidance (IAG) throughout the student journey. To achieve this, we work collaboratively with other teams across UCEM and act with the best interests of students in mind. Our mission is to improve student satisfaction by providing a knowledgeable, accessible, and friendly support service underpinning student success throughout their studies.

 

What do you love most about working in your team?

That we work very much as a team, we share ideas, experiences and support each other.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Students use our advice and guidance to successfully complete their studies alongside, most often, working and caring for their friends and families.

 

What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?

I love being a part of UCEM’s graduation ceremonies. It’s fantastic to see all the hard work of our students and staff come to fruition!

Team Overview

The Apprenticeship Outcomes team are responsible for supporting an apprentice’s journey from the beginning of their studies, right through to end-point assessment and successful completion of their chosen course. The team ensures that the apprentice is developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by their chosen apprenticeship standard. We also provide much needed information, advice and guidance to the apprentices along the way.

 

What do you love most about working in your team?

The Apprenticeship Outcomes team is passionate about our apprentice’s journeys. We put the apprentice right at the heart of everything we do and are a highly supportive team. We strive for excellence in all that we do to facilitate a successful outcome for all our apprentices.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Our team directly support each and every apprentice from day one right through to the end-point assessment. It is extremely rewarding to see apprentices achieve and exceed their goals.

 

What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?

Meet the team!

Team Overview

The marketing team’s primary role is to attract new students and raise awareness of UCEM as a leading provider of online education for the built environment.  Our small team cover all aspects of marketing, from the strategic to the tactical. This includes managing and developing the website and social media platforms, liaising with the press, managing the communications, running campaigns to drive leads, designing and producing brochure and video assets…. to name but a few. We’re passionate about our brand and take pride in our work, and across the team we get to work with a diverse range of stakeholders which means no two days are the same.

 

What do you love most about working in your team?

It’s a great feeling being part of such a unique, enthusiastic and supportive team.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Our output as a team is the very first thing potential applicants see when learning about UCEM. We get to convince future leaders in the built environment to come and study with us!

The Outreach & Inclusion team lead on the implementation, delivery and evaluation of the activities outlined in the UCEM Widening Participation strategy and Access and Participation Plan. The Careers team are committed to delivering careers advice and guidance in a professional, impartial and accessible way, to equip our students and graduates with the skills and knowledge to effectively choose and manage their careers.

That we work very much across all of the Student Services teams, we share ideas, experiences and support each other.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Students use our advice and guidance to successfully go onto enter careers in the Built Environment as well as delivering activities to help students to succeed in their studies.

 

What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?

It is amazing to work with and see the success and progression of our students as well as work with students who may not consider Higher Education to consider a degree.

Recruitment policies

UCEM undertakes thorough pre-employment screening as part of its recruitment process. Given we have contracts with Government offices, we make sure our checks comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Checks will include identity, right to work, basic disclosure criminal record check, and three years of employment history.
