Future ways of working

UCEM is a flexible employer and considers flexibility a valuable employee benefit, especially in this post-pandemic world of work. The flexibility we offer includes the place of work which is designated for each job role; roles have been designated as either Horizons based*, Split or Remote and this will be made clear within job specifications. Team Overview

Academic Registry is a busy and diverse operational team that includes a range of functions from registration, student casework, records and assessments to resubmissions, results, awarding and graduation. The team focuses on the student lifecycle and works collaboratively to support the success of each student from commencing their first module to achieving their award. We strive to provide a professional service that meets the needs of students, staff and internal and external key stakeholders and provide specialist information, advice and guidance to students regarding their studies.

Meet the team!

Team Overview

The Academic Support and Enhancement Team (ASET) provides specialist academic support to promote student retention, engagement, achievement and success.  The team offers 1:1 and small group tutorials in academic skills, and delivers a range of academic support resources, including teaching webinars, to enable students to develop the academic skills needed to be successful in Higher Education study.

 

What do you love most about working in your team?

That you can see the difference the support we give makes to students, and the friendly and supportive team environment.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Academic support enables students that are struggling with their studies to develop the skills they need to be successful.  Common areas include academic reading and writing, critical analysis and referencing.  This input supports the high levels of module success achieved by UCEM students.

 

What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?

The way the institution is always looking to improve and be innovative, the flexibility in work available to staff and of course the summer BBQ!

UCEM is an ambitious institution and getting meaningful insight into our data is critical to monitor and support our strategic objectives. This includes our internal development plans and the use of our data by the organisations that regulate and fund higher education.

Meet the team!

Team Overview

The marketing team’s primary role is to attract new students and raise awareness of UCEM as a leading provider of online education for the built environment. Our small team cover all aspects of marketing, from the strategic to the tactical. This includes managing and developing the website and social media platforms, liaising with the press, managing the communications, running campaigns to drive leads, designing and producing brochure and video assets… to name but a few. We’re passionate about our brand and take pride in our work, and across the team we get to work with a diverse range of stakeholders which means no two days are the same.

 

What do you love most about working in your team?

It’s a great feeling being part of such a unique, enthusiastic and supportive team.

 

What is the impact of your team’s work?

Our output as a team is the very first thing potential applicants see when learning about UCEM. We get to convince future leaders in the built environment to come and study with us!

MSc Building Surveying External Examiner Vacancies

UCEM are seeking Academic and Practitioner MSc Building Surveying External Examiners. This opportunity is not one of employment however will be subject to an IR35 assessment on appointment, to determine payment method and taxation. The successful candidate will be expected to start with immediate effect.

UCEM undertakes thorough pre-employment screening as part of its recruitment process. Given we have contracts with Government offices, we make sure our checks comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Checks will include identity, right to work, basic disclosure criminal record check, and three years of employment history.
