UCEM celebrates receiving ISO 14001 certification

Posted on: 23 January, 2024

The ISO 14001 certification is the first of its kind for UCEM and reflects our continued commitment to sustainability.

UCEM have been awarded an ISO 14001 certification – an internationally recognised global standard that sets out the criteria for successful environment management systems.

This ISO is UCEM’s first recognition of this kind. The aim of this standard is to help organisations establish an environmental management system – a framework that allows them to manage environmental issues, improve the efficiency of resource usage and reduce waste.

Being awarded this ISO:

  • Demonstrates UCEM’s commitment to the environment
  • Increases employee engagement and environmental awareness throughout the organisation
  • Improves the confidence of stakeholders and strengthens UCEM’s reputation
  • Provides UCEM with a competitive and financial advantage through improved efficiencies and reduced costs
  • Encourages suppliers to improve their environmental performance

The awarding of this ISO is just one part of our wider sustainability strategy and fits into the How we operate strand of UCEM’s ongoing Globe initiative. It also 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations. Rather than existing within a silo, this certification forms part of our vision to create a culture of sustainability within the organisation.

The next steps moving forward will be for UCEM to maintain this standard, keep up the hard work that went into achieving it, and move forward by displaying continuous improvement in future audits.
