About the apprenticeship

What can you expect?

You’ll spend your time on this apprenticeship learning through a combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training. Your academic learning (off-the-job) is complimented by the wide range of knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ll learn through practical experience provided by your employer. For example, one day in your studies you may be learning about the different types of procurement processes and negotiation requirements for a construction project, and then the next day you may be out on site, putting those skills into practice. The learning from your job will significantly support the success of this apprenticeship.

At the end of your academic learning, you’ll take the end point assessment (EPA) which will typically be representative of the review process required for professional registration (Technician status). This particular EPA is assessed via an online test, project and a professional discussion. The standard duration for this is 6 months after the completion of the academic programme.

UCEM is planning to seek accreditation for the following:

  • The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) for TechCIOB of CIOB

This apprenticeship is for those

  • Wanting to learn the foundations of quantity surveying
  • Needing the academic requirements to progress onto a L6 apprenticeship
  • Keen to prove their worth to their employer

This apprenticeship introduces students to the dynamic construction industry, allowing them to explore key concepts and the role of a Construction Quantity Surveyor to enable them to develop as valuable contributors to the built environment."
