CPD and Employer Engagement Event a great success

Over 100 students, alumni and employers attended CEM’s CPD and Employer Engagement Event at the RICS offices in London on April 14th. The event was hosted by RICS President, Louise Brook-Smith who kicked off the evening reception with a welcome speech in which she talked about diversity in the industry. This was followed by CEM Principal, Ashley Wheaton who gave a talk entitled ‘Accessible education – how CEM is widening participation in the profession’. The evening talks were rounded off by Colin Wilson – Head of UK & Ireland DTZ whose talk was called ‘Solution for the war on talent – Diversity.’

Earlier in the day there were three CPD talks, the first from Ben Elder BA BSc FRICS ACIArb was on ‘The Value of International Standards’ this was followed by Andrew D Thompson MSc CEnv FRICS FCInstCES on ‘How to pass the APC – dealing with the ethics question’. The final talk was from Tim Bennett BSc MA FRICS, Head of Construction at CEM on ‘Benefits of Using BIM for Project and Built Asset Management – Sharing Standards Internationally’. Recordings of all the talks will be made available on our website in due course.

After the evening talks guests were invited to network with employers, CEM staff and each other whilst enjoying canapes and a glass of wine.
