CIOB Accreditation Confirmed

Following a successful accreditation visit on 16th October the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has confirmed that the following CEM validated degree programmes are accredited:

•    BSc (Hons) Building Surveying
•    BSc (Hons) Construction Management
•    BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying
•    MSc Building Surveying
•    MSc Construction Management
•    MSc Quantity Surveying
•    MBA Construction and Real Estate

The CIOB has also confirmed that CEM programmes validated by the University of Reading and the Open University continue to be accredited:

CEM now has “CIOB Accredited Centre Status” for the next 5 years.

The CIOB accreditation panel also commended CEM on the following areas of good practice:

•    CEM’s clear strategy and vision for the future
•    Student Central and student support provided by CEM
•    Tutor expertise and their links with the industry
•    The strides CEM is making towards developing the use of Moodle with the addition of more interactive resources
•    CEM’s engagement with the school-leaver market via UCAS
•    Bespoke initiatives such as The Green Room, a collection of online resources on the subject of sustainability
•    The management of CEM’s resources and e-library

This outcome represents a strong endorsement of CEM’s work by one of the leading professional bodies for the construction industry. It also marks a significant step in our progress towards becoming the leading online, vocational university.
