CEM strengthens academic team

CEM is strengthening its academic team with three senior appointments, all of whom take up post on 1 September 2014:

  • Aled Williams, Director of Education
  • Tim Bennett, Head of Construction
  • Nick Moore, Head of Real Estate

Aled Williams FCIOB FHEA was Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford for 11 years, having previously been Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University. For the last three years he was Higher Education Academy Discipline Lead for the Built Environment.

Aled is currently Chair of the Construction Industry Council North West region. He has been a member of the QAA Review Group, Subject Benchmark Statement, Architectural Technology and Vice Chair of the Standards and Qualifications Strategic Committee at ConstructionSkills. Additionally, he is Chief External Examiner, Undergraduate Construction and Surveying Programmes at Heriot Watt University.

Aled holds a Master of Science in Information Technology in Property and Construction, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a Bachelor of Science in Building Surveying.

Tim Bennett MRICS joins CEM from Kingston University where he was previously Principal Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Studies, and most recently Associate Professor and Acting Head of School. He is currently external examiner at both Sheffield Hallam University and Dublin Institute of Technology. Tim has extensive experience in surveying practice as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and was for 7 years a member of the RICS Quantity Surveying and IT Committee. He has been a HEFCE/QAA Specialist Assessor (Property & Construction).

Tim holds a Master’s degree in Professional Education and Training and a Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying.

Nick Moore MAPM FHEA was Head of Subject – Technology at the University of West London. His area of responsibility included programmes at foundation, bachelor and masters level in subjects such as building surveying, architectural technology, civil engineering and construction management. He was previously Built Environment Programmes Leader at Reading College.

Nick holds an MSc Management and Implementation of Developing Projects and a B.Eng. Civil and Structural Engineering.
