Posted on: 6 February, 2020

Lucy Roper is UCEM’s Information Governance Manager. As part of her role, Lucy manages the e-Library on our virtual learning environment (VLE), ensuring our students have access to a wide selection of resources to help them through their studies.

Lucy also compiles a monthly compendium of news, views, research and resources to keep students up to date with all the latest from the sector. Here, she explains why Knowledge Foundations has changed its look…

In the news we often hear about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) gathered by the 2030 Agenda and adopted by the United Nations. One of these is to ‘Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’ (Goal 4).

Online accessibility to the educational environment is something that UCEM and the e-Library is currently focusing its attention on.

An accessibility statement was produced at the end of 2019 for the e-Library and now work is underway to address the valuable resources that make up the e-Library and ensure new material obtained, produced and including current awareness services such as Knowledge Foundations, are fully accessible.
