Tell us about your time at UEM

I started my course at UCEM back in 2014.  I hadn’t studied for a while and the application form alone as a challenge to me in trying to find my GCSE results!  My course was kindly sponsored by the company I worked for, JLL.  I was, at the time of studying, a Surveying Executive, having moved from an accounts role.  To say my knowledge of property was limited was probably an understatement.  However, thanks to great mentors, course leaders and course content, that soon changed.

In my final two years at UCEM I was lucky enough to be part of the Academic Board and attended meetings regularly.  This was an amazing opportunity. Initially, I went home with a list of words and acronyms to Google; however, that soon changed.  The Board were very accommodating, and it was an absolute pleasure working with them.

Tell us about your experiences since leaving UCEM

I was absolutely delighted to achieve a 2:1 and I am very much looking forward to Graduation on 1st December.

Career wise, I have just become the new Surveyor in the Commercial Property Team here at JLL.  I am currently working on a project to bring the industrial portfolio up to scratch as our Client is very much of the opinion that industrial is the new retail!  This is a work in progress.

I totally believe that if it wasn’t for my time with UCEM this role would not have been achievable. I also believe that doing the course and being on the Board has given me the confidence in myself to go on to achieve great things.
