Dr Muhammad Rana travelled to São Luís in Brazil to share his research titled ‘Urbanisation confronts human rights: Simulating a sustainable future using BIM and system modelling (BIM2S)’ with peers from Brazil and the UK.

The meeting will act as a catalyst for the creation of research publications, funding project applications and the potential introduction of exchange programmes for staff and students alike.

Muhammad commented: “The visit helped me in developing professional relationships with my peers for future project collaborations. The hands-on learning and experience from the site visits and workshops in Brazil will also assist me and other researchers in understanding the depth of issues and propose various solutions in our future research projects and ensure our teaching is informed by these experiences as well.”

The trip was funded by the British Council in response to Muhammad’s research whilst in post at the University of Wolverhampton and was planned in coordination with partner university, the State University of Maranhão (UEMA).
