  • A personal computer with audio playback capability
  • The Internet via a broadband connection
  • Email
  • Headphones with a microphone

You should be able to:

  • Create, use and save documents produced in word processing and spreadsheet software, e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Use a web browser – we recommend your browser is up-to-date:
    • Google Chrome: minimum version – 30.0, recommended version – latest
    • Mozilla Firefox: minimum version 25.0, recommended version – latest
    • Apple Safari: minimum version 8, recommended version – latest
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer: minimum version 11, recommended version – latest
  • Open PDF documents with freely available Adobe Reader software

Adobe Flash Player
Some interactive media or video resources require Adobe Flash Player. To play the media:
Download and install Adobe Flash Player http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Note: Employers may operate policies limiting access to the Internet and the use of e-mail at work. If you intend studying during the working week, you should check that access is possible.
