UCEM’s Building Control programmes gain accreditation from CABE

UCEM’s Building Control programmes have been accredited by the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
The successful accreditation of our BSc (Hons) Building Control programme and Building Control Surveyor Degree apprenticeship follows on from a detailed submission, presentation and meeting with CABE.
Among the commendations from CABE in support of the accreditation were:
- The student handbooks are excellent with a clear layout. They are very informative easy to follow clear induction unit, highlighting excellent student support with links to online study resources;
- The University’s selection of modules, assessment and use of project-based modules are excellent;
- A range of award outcomes that reflects student achievements;
- The apprenticeship process, delivery, learner and employer support mechanism are impressive;
- The quality and timely submission of the accreditation documentation was exemplary.
UCEM’s Director of Academic Quality, Helen Edwards, commented: “Gaining accreditation from the sector’s top professional bodies is essential in confirming that our programmes suitably equip graduates to flourish in the Built Environment.
“I’m delighted that CABE has accredited UCEM’s new Building Control programmes which will support students on the programmes to progress in their careers and contribute to a safer built environment.”
As part of the accreditation, apprentices who complete the Building Control Degree will receive advanced standing to become a Chartered Member of CABE.
All Building Control students can apply for free student membership of CABE which can be upgraded to Associate Membership after completion of their qualification and two years’ relevant experience in the workplace.
