Posted on: 22 November, 2018

Each week, UCEM Information Governance Manager, Lucy Roper reports on the latest news stories from the Built Environment.

This week, Lucy picks out a report on falling house prices in the midst of Brexit uncertainty, signposts the latest updates on the UK economy which focus on the Built Environment and breaks up the heavy report analysis with a story about a bricklaying robot!

UK housing market suffering through Brexit uncertainty

Brexit, Brexit, Brexit. We hear an awful lot about it (this blog included!) but are we any closer to knowing what is going to be the true impact of that fateful vote on 23 June, 2016? Of course not! This vacuum of certainty is having an adverse effect on the economy and the latest housing figures compiled by RICS paint a sorry picture.

Reports ‘r’ us!

If the UK Residential Market Survey referred to in the above weblink wasn’t enough to sate your insatiable desire for stats, then feast your eyes on this month’s UK Chart Book and Survey Market updates, also courtesy of RICS.

In all, there are 18 reports to get stuck into relating to the UK economy with a focus on the construction, housing and commercial property industries. We would tell you more but we wouldn’t want to steal your fun!

And now for something completely different…

“…a quantum leap for the construction industry.” That is how Fastbrick Robotics chief executive, Mike Pivac, describes the breakthrough of the Australian firm’s bricklaying robot in building the shell of a house in just a few days.

Global Construction Review has all the details so you can assess how big a step this is for the industry yourself.
