Biography

Jane is an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor who moved into higher education in 2016 following over 20 years of working in private practice in London. She has worked with a variety of commercial clients and been involved in numerous high profile property acquisitions and developments. Jane started her teaching career at UCEM before moving to the University of Westminster in London, where she was the Assistant Head of School of Applied Management. Jane returned to UCEM in 2022.

External Examiner for undergraduate Building Surveying courses at Liverpool John Moores University and University of Portsmouth.

Jane is also an RICS APC assessor and panel chair.

She is a former deputy chair of RICS London Region Board.

Jane has taught on a variety of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. However, her specialist areas are building pathology, construction technology and retrofitting.

Prior to moving into higher education, Jane worked in private practice in London for many years. She was a Partner at Hollis and has also run her own firm. She has experience in all areas of building surveying, technical due diligence of commercial property, building pathology, party walls and dilapidations in particular.
